Help the European American Issues Forum Make History on October 1st!

9/26/02

On Tuesday, October 1st at 11 AM, proud European Americans will stand on the Capitol steps in Sacramento [the capitol is located on 10th Street between N and L Streets in downtown Sacramento] and declare October to be European American Heritage Month. Young people, elders, babies, children; thin and stout, short and tall, from every nation between the Atlantic and the Urals - we want them all to be with us as we make history!

This will be an occasion of joy and optimism as we kick off a month-long celebration encompassing Columbus Day, Leif Erickson Day, and other events leading up to Celtic New Year on the 31st. Speakers will address the future of European Americans and remind us of our bright heritage, music will lift our hearts, and the flags of our nations will fly in the autumn breeze.

European American cultural organizations from around the state are being specifically invited to send representatives, bring banners, and wear traditional ethnic costumes. We hope to include pipe and drum bands and other European musical entertainment, as well.

When the EAIF makes this rally a success, we will have done something unheard of in the European American community. We will have brought together hundreds - or preferably thousands! - of our people together in an atmosphere of peaceful celebration and idealism to honor who and what we are, and to launch October of 2002 as a special time for us.

It is very important that you be there with us if you possibly can! Tell your friends and coworkers and encourage them to come, as well. Let's show the politicians in Sacramento and throughout the country that European Americans care about their heritage, and will turn out in mass to support it!

More details will be provided in the days and weeks to come.
