| American Border Patrol's Mike Christie aims powerful Axsys LandPro500 thermal camera aboard the Border Hawk M at ground during July 14 test. Christie is wearing oxygen mask as camera can detect man sized targets at altitudes in excess of 25,000 feet. The Border Hawk M is capable of reaching altitudes in excess of 25,000 feet. The thermal image is viewed through video goggles worn by Christie and is also displayed on a video screen viewable by the pilot. ABP expects to have the system operational on the southern border during the week of July 17. |
