ABP's Border Hawk M caught these photos yesterday. The location is about 200 feet south of the border just East of the San Pedro River. The top photo was was taken from 500 feet using a 300 mm optical zoom. It shows a "TJ Taxi" - a van used to ferry people from Naco, Sonora, Mexico, to spots along the border for later crossing. Note that it is parked next to a Humane Borders water tank. The second photo was also taken from 500 feet using a 300 mm optical zoom. It shows people just dropped off by this taxi hiding in the brush. (The two guys next to the van above were observed emerging from the brush where the people are hiding). The third photo is a digital blow up. The camera records at 17.5 megapixels. ABP counted about fifteen people hiding in the brush. These photos demonstrate how difficult it is to find people in this part of the border zone. ABP had spotted the van and orbited the area. We knew what to look for and where. Had we not seen the van and known what it was up to, we never would have seen the group. |
