Desperados and the Border Fence
December 3, 2008
Yesterday's report that smugglers used a truck mounted ramp to scale a 10-foot fence near Douglas says a great deal about the border. First, new fencing along the border is proving to be a real problem for smugglers. Second, while it was at it the DHS should have replaced the ten-foot mat fence sections near Douglas with the new18-foot fencing. Third, if the smugglers can use a ramp to get over a ten-foot fence, how easy would it be for them to get over nearly two hundred miles of vehicle barriers that DHS has been calling fencing?
