Emergency plea
November 13, 2008
American Border Patrol has issued an emergency plea for help to repair its thermal border camera. The camera was struck by lighting this fall and repair will be very expensive. Without it, ABP is very vulnerable to migrants and smugglers who can now cross the border only in a half-mile section of border near its ranch.
'Tomorrow morning we are going to have a special meeting amongst employees," said Glenn Spencer of ABP, "I will give them the option of continuing to work on the border, or work via Internet, from a safe distance."
"If we had our thermal camera we would feel much safer," Spencer said.
Anyone interested in helping ABP can go here.
Spencer said he and his German Shepherds will stay on the border no matter what.
