| This tunnel would have to be 1300 feet long!!! -- If the tunnel was 3 feet in diameter the builders of the tunnel would have to have excavated and moved about 6,123 tons of dirt!!! -- (1300 feet X 3 X 3.14) = 12,246 cu ft X 100 pounds per cu ft = 1,224,600 pounds lbs of dirt divided by 2000 lbs per ton = 6,123 tons. |
