ABP work with Texas ranchers

10/16/06

Three weeks ago American Border Patrol was contacted by a Border Patrol Agent working in Laredo, Texas. He asked if ABP could return to Texas and help with night time surveillance as the Laredo BP had no night aerial infrared capability. (ABP first learned of the lack of night IR aerial capability during a meeting on 9/10/06 at the BP station in Laredo.) ABP agreed and flew to Laredo. Upon arrival, ABP learned that the agent requesting the help had been transferred. ABP contacted the Laredo station and got a less than friendly response. ABP made contact with local ranchers and worked with them instead. (The ranchers control over 1.2 million acres of land. )

"Just another example of Border Patrol malfeasance," said Glenn Spencer, head of ABP.
