Senate Conferees Seek to Strike Secure Driver's License Provisions
Call Them Immediately!

FAIR's Capitol Hill team has learned that the Senate conferees seek to strike provisions to secure state driver's licenses from the final bill to implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations.
This is outrageous! The need for securing state driver's licenses was clearly demonstrated when the 19 hijackers used fraudulently obtained licenses to board the planes they hijacked. In fact, they possessed at least 63 state driver's licenses which they used to facilitate their attacks on our nation!
Please call the Senate Conferees IMMEDIATELY and tell them to include the House driver's license provisions in the final bill to implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations. (See below for contact information.)
Background: H.R. 10, the House-passed version of the 9/11 Recommendation Implementation Act, includes desperately needed identification security and immigration enforcement provisions. The Senate-passed version of the bill, S. 2845, does not.
House and Senate conferees have held several meetings this week and are still working to iron out legislative differences in the two versions in hopes of completing the final legislation by the November elections.
Senate conferees and the White House oppose including the identification security and immigration enforcement provisions in the final bill. There objection to these much-needed reforms can only be explained by a strong desire to pander to special interests and Hispanic votes.
We have already seen that terrorists will exploit weaknesses in our identification and immigration systems to achieve their evil ends. It's up to our lawmakers to close those loopholes and it's up to us to hold their feet to the fire and demand they do their jobs!
I know we've asked you to call before this week - but given this new intelligence - we ask you to please make one more round of calls.
