Farewell to the American Patrol Report
Glenn Spencer, May 28, 2012
In the May 14 issue of the American Enterprise Institute, Ambassador John Bolton writes about globalism.
Bolton says “globalista academics, leftist think tanks and non-governmental organizations” that are hard at work attacking the sovereignty of the United States. “The struggle to preserve our constitutional system of liberty and representative government is a great unfolding political war, and the outcome is far from certain,” he says.
For twenty years I have fought against illegal immigration. After a few years I realized that I was up to my hip boots in Bolton’s “political war.”
Ten years ago while appearing on the Phil Donahue Show, I said: “What Frank Sharry wants is the borders fully open and the United States to be sacrificed on the altar of globalism!” (Transcript)
Open borders and the free flow of people across them are vital to the globalist’s agenda.
Ten years ago I founded American Border Patrol to tell the truth about what is going on at the U.S.-Mexico border. Since then I have learned that many people in high places in our Homeland Security Department are hardened globalists who will fight any attempt to truly control the border. Many of these globalists were placed in high positions over the twenty years since Bill Clinton was elected president - beginning with the naming of Doris Meissner to head the INS.
This process has gone on so long and the infiltration of our government by leftists so complete - that getting this cabal to tell the truth about the border is next to impossible. Not only that, I believe they will go out of their way to lie.
When Shirley Lertzman and I began the fight against illegal immigration twenty years ago we addressed it as a pocket book issue. When I saw the reaction to Proposition 187 by Mexicans I thought the problem was la Reconquista. While these things were true, I learned that they were symptoms of a larger globalist agenda funded in large part by groups such as the Ford Foundation.
Recently we have been treated to a barrage of stories about how the border is now under control – much of it based on data from the Pew Hispanic Center.
We are now to believe that things along the border are so secure that we can move U.S. Border Patrol agents to ports of entry to act as traffic cops to speed the flow of people and things.
For the past three years my focus with American Border Patrol was to find a way to objectively assess the situation on the border. Everyone agrees that the border needs to be secure, but we needed a means of measuring security.
After a lot of work, we found a way to do that – we called it the Sonic Barrier.
While American Border Patrol worked to tell the truth about the border, I continued to serve as a sort of editor for the American Patrol Report. This requires me to arise about 3:30 a.m. to research for my daily feature. I have been doing for sixteen years. In that time I have written the daily feature or structured stories from other sources to get a point across.
I estimate that I have written more than 5,000 original features and separate reports. With the exception of one report where my political sensitivities failed me I stand by every word.
While the American Patrol Report is a valuable source of information, a few thousand people a day read it – compared to millions who are exposed to the mainstream media.
While others, such as the Examiner, now provide excellent coverage of the illegal immigration issue, there is no other organization like American Border Patrol – none. There is no other organization that has the frontline knowledge and capability to show how the border can be secure – and when it is – independent of the federal government.
For that reason I have decided to retire as “editor” of the American Patrol Report effective today to devote full-time to American Border Patrol. APR will continue to be published every day with Southland Web Services providing updates and selecting feature stories as well. Southland has been performing this service for fifteen years and has done an excellent job.
American Patrol Report recently passed 33 million hits and I have received kind messages about my retirement from that job. APR will continue and so will I. After twenty years I fully understand what is going on. To walk away entirely would be giving up on the United States of America - the best hope of humanity. I just can’t do that - and never will.
Thousands upon thousands have given most of their entire lives for this great nation – the least I can do is give what time I have left.
I will retire when the border is secure – and not a moment before.
