Border Outrage
Insult Added to Injury
Glenn Spencer -- American Patrol Report -- December 16
The killing of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was inevitable. Let me quote myself from the March 31, 2010 Sierra Vista Herald: "It is my theory that the violence in Mexico is being precipitated by increased border enforcement and they are fighting each other over a diminishing pie. Each drug load or each stash of money becomes even more important.
"Since they are killing each other over these things without hesitation, it isn't surprising that if somebody's load or something else is threatened that they have reached a point where there are going to drop the unwritten law about not killing gringos. If that is the case, then we have serious trouble."
And the killing of Brian Terry will not be the last. But last night Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Az) added insult to injury when she told Greta Van Susteren that the most important thing that could be done was for the president to come to the border. She also said the goal of the government was for the people along the border to "feel safe." This is the woman who opposed finishing the border fence.
The border fence ends just west of Nogales and that is where the killers most likely crossed into the U.S.
Does Barack Obama need to come to the border to understand there is a problem? No. Does Gabrielle Giffords need to get real and support completion of the border fence? Yes.
We don't need to "feel safe," we need to be safe.
