| "...I spoke to Commissioner Bersin yesterday on the phone about that, he basically told me that I don't mean to call you a liar but that's not what I am told." -- Peggy Davis |
Associated Press (AP) reporter Michelle Price called me about a story she was doing about groups on the border. We spent about 20 minutes on the phone, during which time I told her of an incident wherein CBP Commissioner Bersin almost accused a border rancher of lying when she reported seeing no Border Patrol presence along 20 miles of the border. At her request, I sent Price links [here and here] to two ABP reports that showed no U.S. Border Patrol along 60 miles of border in southern Arizona, including the section mentioned by the lady rancher.
She acknowledged receiving them.
Then, instead of a headline that read, "CBP Head Ignorant of Border Situation," the headline of her story was "Man with neo-Nazi ties leading patrols in AZ."
And, instead of contacting the Border Patrol union to verify the rancher's story, the AP contacted the Southern Poverty Law Center to talk about Nazis on the border.
If there is anyone out there who still believes the mainstream press tells the real story about the border, I have some property in Los Angeles. |
