Senate Passes DeMint Amendment to Complete Border Fence Next Year
Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement after the Senate passed his amendment requiring the completion of 700 miles of double-layer physical fencing along the southern U.S. border by December 31, 2010. The amendment was offered to the FY2010 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill and the vote was passed by a 54 - 44 vote.
"The American people were promised a secure border fence three years ago and it's time to make it happen," said Senator DeMint.
American Patrol Report Note: This vote comes only four days after American Border Patrol's banner on the border demanded that DHS "Finish the Job!" |
