Napolitano Would Put Homeland Security in Jeopardy

"You show me a 50-foot wall and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder at the border. That's the way the border works."

    It has been rumored that President-elect Barack Obama is considering Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security. Napolitano has been very wrong about border security and, as the governor of a border state, this is a very bad sign.
    Let's take her position on the border fence. Back in 2005 World Net Daily reported: "[She] is smashing the border fence idea, saying it would be too expensive, take too long to construct and be ineffective when completed."  "You show me a 50-foot wall and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder at the border. That's the way the border works," Napolitano told the Associated Press.
    Napolitano was wrong. After getting off to a bad start, DHS finally got serious about the border fence and is installing hundreds of miles of fencing and barriers with great effect. Just last week CBP issued a report entitled Apprehensions Decrease in New Mexico Corridors Where Fencing Built. It says that following the installation of new fencing, apprehensions at the border in New Mexico have fallen 67%.
    A similar result was found at Yuma where apprehensions fell 78% following the construction of fifty miles of border fence. ...Continued Here...
