Missing in Action?
DHS Claims Cannot be Confirmed

"We are bringing on board a fourth unmanned aerial system, and we have plans to bring two more on board." -- DHS Secretary Chertoff, March 22, 2008
American Patrol Report -- March 25
Where are the UAVs?
Despite claims by the Department of Homeland Security that it has four unmanned aerial vehicles "on board," residents of southern Arizona have been unable to confirm their presence. "When they were flying the border in 2006 we saw them quite often," said Glenn Spencer, Arizona rancher. Spencer actually spotted one when he was flying ABPs Cessna 206.
"On March 2, 2008, I spotted what I believed to be a Predator flying over my ranch outside Ft. Huachuca airspace, but that was the only sighting in the past 18 months," Spencer added.
Spencer said the press had been negligent in failing to follow up on claims by DHS that four Predators are patrolling the border.
