Pilgrim: The Homeland Security Department today officially
took control of a 28-mile section of virtual fence designed to
protect our border with Mexico. DHS says it will have 670 miles
of physical and virtual fencing completed this year. The Secure
Fence Act of 2006 called for 700 miles of physical fencing along
our 2,000-mile-long border with Mexico.

"I have personally witnessed the value of this system, and
I have spoken directly to the Border Patrol agents ... who have
seen it produce actual results, in terms of identifying and allowing
the apprehension of people who were illegally smuggling across
