Date: Wed, 12 Dec 2007 15:40:34 -800Others have done a good job at pointing out Huckabee's history as a proponent of illegal aliens, and the weakness in his immigration plan, especially his "touch back" plan whereby illegal aliens would return to their country of origin (read Mexico) to pick up documents. Anyone familiar with the history of illegal immigration knows that this is an invitation for massive fraud.
I have been at this game for seventeen years, full-time. It is a very complex, nuanced problem and it took me years to understand the sophistication of the open borders lobby. As I look at Huckabee's plan, it is tailor-made for fraud and abuse.
The decision by Jim Gilchrist to endorse Mr. Huckabee tells me that he doesn't understand the forces at play and how they work.
