As I see it

The action by New Jersey Attorney General Milgram begs the question; What will California Attorney General Jerry Brown do?

California Proposition 187 was passed by 60% of California voters. Some of it survived the lawlessness of Gov. Gray Davis and became Section 834b of the California Penal Code, to wit:

California Penal Code Section 834b

(a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.

(b) AND SO ON

Although a leftist, I have found Jerry Brown to be a very intelligent, rational person. I think he will follow the lead of the New Jersey Attorney General, but with some built-in process to soften the impact.

No so with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He is a firebrand reconquista who rose to power promising full rights for illegal aliens. (I understand he has already sent a letter to ICE demanding that they consult with him prior to any serious enforcement actions in Los Angeles.) He will not lay down and play dead. He will fight.

So there you have it - we have all the ingredients for a Constitutional confrontation of the likes we haven't seen for decades, if not centuries.

I told you so.
