A
survey of the border patrolled by the Yuma Border Patrol
station reveals extensive construction activity. Of the forty
eight miles of southern border, as of March 22, there were 24
miles of vehicle barrier under construction, 9 miles of which
included people barriers and 2.5 miles feature a double fence.
The survey uncovered huge sections of
the border without any fence at all and hundreds of north- south
vehicle tracks. Although the tracks lead into the Goldwater bombing
range, there were no warning signs anywhere along the boundary
of the range. "There are many problems with this fencing,"
said Glenn Spencer of ABP. ABP will repeat the aerial survey
at the end of April.
