Lou Dobbs Tonight -- CNN -- December 18
Wian:
Reid says his wife, whose father was a Russian immigrant, helped
persuade him to change his position.
Reid: This period of time, Mr. President, for which I'm
so apologetic to my family, mostly, lasted about a week
or two.
Wian: Actually, it was at least a year. Reid introduced
his bill in August 1993 and again seven months later. He then
wrote a "Los Angeles Times" opinion piece supporting
the proposed law in August 1994. -- But that was before illegal
aliens made up more than 10 percent of the work force (see
this outrage) of Senator Reid's home state of Nevada.
