signs border fence bill
President Bush today signed an immigration bill
into law that authorizes construction of nearly 700-miles of
fence along parts of the U.S. border with Mexico. The fence will
cover one-third of the 2,100-mile border. It's cost is unknown,
but a spending measure Bush signed earlier this month makes a
$1.2 billion down payment on it.
