WHY IS THE BORDER PATROL HERE?
Photo at left was taken in the Huachuca Mtns. at 8:40 am on August
14. It shows two persons in military dress, presumed to be National
Guard, together with a Border patrol Agent. (Photo below shows
agent's badge more clearly.) The guardsmen are at a well-known
place for overlooking the valley to the southwest of the Coronado
National Monument.
These National Guardsmen are armed according to a policy set forth
in early June and they are at least two miles from the border.
(Note: The nongovernmental-issue camping chairs seem to defeat
the camouflage clothing.)
Critics say that if the National Guard is under order not
to apprehend or detain illegal aliens, why is the Border Patrol
needed?
